SKIMZ 161
I was on the fence between this skimmer and the SRO 2000 and after talking with Albert I decided on the Skimz. I was told that the performance between the two was quite comparable, but the Skimz would be a better choice for a deeper sump. I have a 120 gallon total volume system with a 12" sump; the Skimz is rated for 300 gallons, so it was a great choice for me. When I opened the box, four days after i ordered it, I was a little worried that I may have made a bad choice because the skimmer seemed flimsy when compared to a Reef Octopus I already own. I decided to put it together and drop it on a stand inside my sump. To be honest, I was a little upset on how noisy it was... The next day i checked the skimmer and realized the noise had went away and it was actually pulling junk from a newly established aquarium. Overall,I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to a friend.

Skim Z Monzter SM 161 - Fantastic
I wanted a quality protein skimmer with a small footprint, and the staff at Aqua Cave, recommended the Skim Z Monzter SM 161. From the time I opened the box, I have been extremely happy with the product. It is made with very thick acrylic and the pump produces a tremendous amount of bubblbes. It took about a week before it started pulling out crud that I did not even know existed in the tank. The instructions were virtually non existent, but assembly is fairly straight forward. If not, you can always call the staff who are more than willing to help. If you want a great skimmer with a small footprint, this is the skimmer for you.

So far so good
The only other skimmer I've owned is the ASM G3, and this thing has been solid thus far. One thing to note, you should put every effort to run it at 9.5" of water as instructed. Tweaking the air/output gives really inconsistent results each time, but getting it at 9.5" allows you to fully open the air intake and water exhaust. Works like a charm on my 178.
