Yes its a little loud, and it does not get any more quiet over time, but you can take out the pummp you just have to remove the bubble plate pull off the elbow then you can pull right up on the pump elbow and clean it all you want. And the skimmer works great easy to adjust and has the extra chamber that you can place either put more carbon/phosphate absorber/ cheato/ or anything else that you want.

got this skimmer for my 72 sps tank. great performance, but very loud. hopefully this will lessen as it breaks in. there is no way the pump can come out of the body bc i tried. i dont know how i am going to clean the pump periodically. i contacts coralvue, and they agreed its very tricky to get it out. why sell a skimmer if it the pump cant be cleaned or replaced?
