Great compact small skimmer for tight sump spaces, does a great job on a 28 gallon bow front tank. Quiet operation most of the time, once the water level falls below a certain level it will start to get noisy but that also serves as a reminder to top-off your system. I expected the quality of the plastic to be better at this price range, feels cheap/fragile and like other folks have pointed out in the forums the bottom cover just falls off when you take the skimmer out to clean it. The magnetic holder holds the skimmer firmly in place, it will not budge or tip over.

Did not fit into the stock JBJ 28g cube with magnets. Made three modifications to unit to really make it work perfectly. 1.) Had to use Dremel to mod body of skimmer to cut magnets off. Now fits into middle overflow compartment. In retrospect, I would use utility knife instead to more precisely cut only the black adhesive at edge of magnet. 2.) Ordered slim collection container from Media Baskets to allow unit to fit flush and properly with the JBJ tank hood($30 upgrade). 3.) Easily added a needle valve for adjusting venturi air intake (check YouTube video). Rerouted stock air line through small drilled hole in lid to allow easy skimmer tweeking (10 min easy fix).
Overall, even with purchase of secondary collection cup and the two quick mods, this unit skims efficiently and very easy. Highly needed upgrade and worth the expense!!!

I placed this on my 28g AIO and it started pulling gunk the very first day. I had very little tweaking and didn't really experience any break in time at all. Awesome little unit. Having the simple lift off top is a great idea that others should incorporate as well.
Having placed this in my add on refugium area I had no issues with space. This unit has the magnets already attached making it hard to fit in the rear of my tank without modding.

I got this for my Red Sea Max 130. It is so much quieter than the one the RSM came with. Produced a good quality skimmate right out of the box and it is super easy to adjust.

Purchased this for my JBJ 28g Nano cube.. After only 24hrs I started seeing skimate..This thing pulls out some nasty green/brown stuff out of the water.. Highly recommend this to anyone on the fence thinking about getting a cheaper skimmer. You get what you pay for.. High quality skimmer!!!!
