  1. Could have been great Review by Sarasota

The quality is sorta there but it is missing some basic things that would have made it better. First of all, there are no on/off switches so unless you put it on a timer you have to plug it in to turn it on and un-plug it to turn it off.. including the LED moon lights.

The feet are for a rimless tank although I was able to modify them (grind one side of the foot down to fit snugly on the rim of a Deep Blue 120, So, no thought was put into making this a light for every tank.

There are also only 2 fans in the unit, not 4 like you may think by looking at the photos. and those 2 only come on when one set of bulbs are on, not the other. Which is really dumb.(there are 8 bulbs, 4 on one plug and 4 on another) Having the fans come on when only one circuit is on and not the other is pretty stupid in my book..Id expect more from the Germans but seems German quality is not what it used to be.

Anyway, it needs 4 fans not the 2 it has because it does get rather hot when all 8 lights are running.

It does a great job of growing plants for sure.. but I attribute that to the bulbs I put in it, not the fixture itself.

The biggest problem I have with the fixture is the lack of switches and that is a saftey concern. I doubt the unit id UL approved.

The unit is very over-priced for what you actually get. (Posted on 8/21/2011)
