Red Sea’s Coral Pro Salt contains biologically balanced, elevated levels of the foundation elements (Calcium, Magnesium, Carbonates) necessary for sustainable, accelerated coral growth. Coral Pro Salt is ideal for reef aquariums, in particular for LPS and SPS corals, and for growing coral frags.
Natural seawater includes over 70 chemical elements and although most of the elements influence the water parameters, a few of them have a more significant role in its overall chemical stability.
These elements form the foundation of the reef environment and they include the three major elements: calcium, magnesium and bi-carbonates. These three ‘foundation elements’ have a major effect on the water chemistry (pH stability, alkalinity, seawater ionic strength) and on many of the coral’s biological processes (skeleton formation, ion- exchange, photosynthesis).
Unlike the natural reef environment, where there is an immense reservoir of the foundation elements, the reef aquarium has limited resources that are quickly depleted by the aquarium inhabitants. Therefore, in order to enable sustainable coral growth it is necessary to maintain higher than natural levels of the foundation elements.
Original research carried out in Red Sea’s laboratory has shown that in a closed system (an aquarium) a specific ratio between the foundation elements of calcium, magnesium and carbonates (alkalinity) is necessary for coral vitality and the formation of a robust aragonite coral skeleton. This ratio must be maintained especially when increasing the levels of the foundation elements above the natural sea levels.
Red Sea’s Coral Pro salt is made according to these ideal ratios and remove the need to adjust the levels of foundation elements after water changes and significantly improving the wellbeing of corals.

I don't care for it Review by Kirk
Product Rating: It mixes quickly, but, leaves a nasty residue in the mixing container. I don't like the fact that it has to be used within 4 hours of use. If you don't use it in that time span, a white precipitate forms in the mixing container, and the alkalinity falls. I like to keep salt water mixing at all times in case of emergency, and it can't be done with this brand.
I had just about beaten my bryopsis and cyano outbreak before buying this salt to try for a few water changes. I have gone through about 3 buckets so far, and, the nuisance algae is back in full swing. I suspect there are plenty of impurities and phosphates/nitrates in this mix, since it's made from evaporated sea water, versus synthetically from USP grade ingredients.
When used immediately after mix, the parameters fall where they should. (Posted on 9/27/2016) -
AQUACAVE Consistently Competive Review by Jon
Product Rating: Wanted to try this salt due to element levels reported by the manufacturer with hopes of less dosing for SPS. AQUACAVE (again) is the most cost competitive around. THANKS !!!!! (Posted on 9/3/2016)

Great Salt Review by Mark
Product Rating: So far the best salt I've used, you have to be careful when mixing so do research on how to do it, but other than that no problems at all. I still recommend the use of Kalkwasser unless your doing weekly water changes or your tank is heavily stocked. (Posted on 1/16/2015)

Damaged in transit Review by Rick
Not ACs fault but when I opened the box the lid of the bucket was partially off and about 2 cups of mix was all over. I assume UPS tossed this around but wanted you to be aware. (Posted on 1/14/2012)
