Bubble Magus Curve 5

Posted by Celso on Jul 1st 2021

So recently, I have been looking for a really good protein skimmer with hardly any bad reviews. I found this, Bubble Magus curve5. So I thought let’s try it? Easy to set up, easy to use. Had it running for 3 days and had a cup full of Mucky dirty dark olive green-colored skimmate. I am really impressed with this protein skimmer.
I’m currently running it on a 40-gallon reef tank. With 20 gallons long sump. It’s a bang for your buck. I really recommend The Bubble Magus Curve 5.

Awesome Skimmer at a great price

Using this for my Red Sea Reefer 170, this thing is a beast pulling gunk already on the first day with minimal breakin time.

    Very good little skimmer

Posted by MW on Apr 29th 2020

Fits nicely into my tiny eshopps nano sump. Had no break in period at all. I set it once and it's been working great ever since. My previous sump would never operate properly, either to many bubbles and overflowing or not enough and doing nothing. Not sure what the extra short piece of tubing is for that was in the box.

Great Skimmer at a Good Price

I just got this skimmer a little over two weeks ago. I have the eshopp's rs-75 sump and this fit perfectly in it. It was easy to put together. Plug it in and adjust the gauge for bubble power... boom you are ready to go!

Fits great in my sump, only 2 day break-in period, skimming like crazy from my 125 gal reef.

    Bubble Magus Curve 5

Posted by Michael on Jan 20th 2020

During my weekly tank cleaning I found my skimmer was on its last leg. I immediately went online and ordered this skimmer. To my surprise, I received my new skimmer in two days!

The instructions that came with the Bubble Magus is minimal, but there are You Tube sites that give very good instructions, so I was able to install this slimmer in minutes.

The skimmer produces a lot of bubbles, and is doing a great job for my 75 gallon tank. Because of its compact size, it fits nicely in my sump. My only comment is that the adjustment knob for the bubble height is hard to fine tune. Other than that, I am completely satisfied with this skimmer.

    Good skimmer

I happened to catch this skimmer on sale. What a buy. First day I added it to my sump, it started churning. By day two, I had to turn it down. Loving it.

Great Skimmer for a Great Price

Outside of the directions being a little hard to follow, this is overall a great skimmer! Took about 10 days to break in and is now skimming dry as I want it. I've got this skimmer running in a Red Sea 170 and doing an amazing job! Would highly recommend, as it's a great skimmer and well priced!

Love the bubble magus protein skimmers. Running one in my 54 gallon corner tank and just bought another curve 5 for my new 75 gallon tank it worked so well.

    Nice!

Posted by Rick on Dec 8th 2017

I am running a 75 Gallon tank with a wet/dry sump with a Marineland 100 skimmer. In my 55 gallon FOWLR I was running a wet/dry sump with a Corallife Super Skimmer and was having a lot of trouble with it continuing to leak. I finially had enough so since the Marineland 100 skimmer was doing a ok job, at least I thought it was, I ordered the Bubble Magus Curve 5 to place in my 75 gallon and move the Marineland 100 to my FOWLR. When I received my Bubble Magus, I installed it and moved my Marineland, what a difference. Within 24 hours it was already pulling out dark green gunk and the water is so much clearer. I would recommend the Bubble Magus skimmer, great buy. I am going to get another one for my FOWLR.

After a 3 day break in this skimmer is pulling out some nasty stuff. Excellent skimmer for the price.

    Works well-ish I think

Posted by Blake on Aug 16th 2016

I bought this for my 40G cube and it took seriously almost 14 days to stop bubbling over right out of the box. It worked well in this tank. The tank had 3 small fish which was fed heavily. I moved the skimmer over to a 91G system and i cannot get it to pull anything but tea colored water. I have tried to adjust it the best I can, there is only one option which will essentially raise or lower the bubble column height inside the skimmer. I would have liked more controllability at the price point as well as better included directions. The directions are very hard to follow as they are translated to english from the manufacturer.

I did have this skimmer working well at one point and can probably get it there again. I would recommend buying it if you already were looking into this specific model as I know a lot of people really like them. If I were to buy again I would probably try a DC pump skimmer and see how that works with more controllability.
