4 X Switch Ports
With four switch input ports you can add another level of automation to your tank/system. Add float switches, leak detectors, ATO systems, and much more!

IMPORTANT: Never apply power to the switch inputs. They are designed to simply be shorted together by a contact switch. That is all that's needed to trigger an event.

1 x Relay Port
Program like an output on the PC4 the relay port will turn on/off a device like a light switch. This port does NOT power the device but switched the line voltage of an item plugged into the port.

The relay port can switch AC or DC power and is ideal for triggering external systems with the ReefKeeper. It's another great automation feature for your tank.

  1. Great but would be better with more cables Review by Ken

This module works as one would expect. I like it a lot and will soon have two on my system. I added it to my system and have been using it for my ATO system to turn off when the reservoir is running too low for the pump to operate safely. I also have a door switch hooked up for my tank stand to allow it to turn on a light when I open the door.

The module is the same size as most of the other modules, which is nice when pre-planning for the item to arrive. I recommend going to an electrical store and finding waterproof connectors to help wire the included cable to your float switches. it will save you from having to shorten the cable if you soldered the two devices together if something ever happens to the connected switch.

I believe this item really should be a part of a pre-packaged controller. It allows for you to make full use of the special programming inside the MyReef software or from the Head Unit. You will likely only have 2 or 4 switch ports in a system without 1 of these units, so having 4 in one module helped manage my wiring and thought process as the related switches are all on one module.

4 Stars as it's a great value to have the added functionality. It does not earn 5 stars due to the lack of extra cables. Unit comes with what you need to get started, but in order to make full use of the switch ports, you need to get the switch adapter kit or a float switch kit. The added expense to use it for button switches or door switches is a little annoying and that's the only real downside to the packaging.

Tip for those who may not be as familiar, using switches to control things besides just an ATO pump might require the use of advanced programming which you can find out about on Digital Aquatics Forums. This unit has a relay port, which if you do not use as a relay, can be used as a virtual channel for this type of programming. It's a shame their is only one of those though. (Posted on 7/18/2014)
