This ballast will power any metal halide 250-watt bulb. It does not over-drive the bulb, so output will be at the bulb manufacturer's specifications.
By using a constantly changing, very high frequency, the ballast will light any bulb without flicker. Longer bulb life and other features makes this the best ballast for all metal halide applications. Does not come with Molex connector.
IceCap uses its unique, patented operating system, which allows you to save energy without compromising light output. By applying lower voltage across the lamp, energy consumption is reduced and lamp life is expected to be increased.

i had a ballast go out and replaced it with one of these bad boys. i like the soft start and it makes my bulbs seem brighter. my only complaint is the short cord that comes on the ballast. i had an old ballast in the garage that i had to rob of its cord. make sure if you order the ballast you order the extension cord. it would have gotten 5 stars if it wasnt for that

I just replaced my noisy magnetic ballasts made by ????? a well known manufacturer and very expensive, and this is the best ever that I bought for my lighting system, it stays quiet and low heat, I wish Ive known about this ones to start with. If you are upgrading or changing your ballasts go for the ice caps they're worth every penny you invest to your reef system. I have 4 250 watts in my reef tank and it glows, Cheers for that, combined with 2 20,000K and 2 14000K, no need for any actinic supplements, my SPS corals are happy as well as the anemones and clams.

the ballast stays cool to the touch even after running for 10+ hours. It also re-starts very quickly and drives my bulb perfectly. The beast ballast I have ever used and will never go with a different brand ballast again.

Great Ballasts

I had another manufacturers ballast literally blow up (Only 5 months old) which left me with 1 operating MH lamp, now that my confidence was 0 with my existing ballast I ordered 2 of the Icecap ballast to replace both. I must say that the ballast makes a huge difference, my lamps are now much brighter and penetrate much deeper than before, the ballasts run cool and are built to last. Don't make the same mistake I did, buy right the first time otherwise you pay twice.
