I sold my 2 Vortech MP40s because they were not effective enough in a 6 long peninsula tank. (being fixed to only one side) Also, the Vortechs sound like a prop engine underwater if you put your ear to the tank glass. I cant imagine the fish not finding this stressful at all! So, I decided to plumb 1" pipes (4 total) from an ocean motions with an 1400gph external pump. The result was good but not ideal. I took a chance and purchased (4) 1" accelerators and the result was a lot more flow (don't ask me how) and the flow penetrates all the way across the tank, but with a soft dispersal similar to the Vortechs. The soft chaotic dispersal was an added bonus! I think you will be ecstatic with this small investment!

It is one of the best things that I added to my tank. It increases water flow and my corals love it.
