MatrixCarbon™ is a truly unique activated carbon. It is formed as a spherical bead for optimum hydrodynamics, and will not pack. It permits maximum water flow and contact with its high density of macroporous binding sites.
MatrixCarbon™ has a very low ash content as indicated by its minimal impact on pH. Even when added to distilled water, it does not raise pH above 7.0.
While all carbons contain phosphate, regardless of false claims to the contrary, MatrixCarbon™ has the lowest detectable leachable phosphate content of all major carbon brands tested.
MatrixCarbon™ outperforms other high grade carbons by at least two-fold when compared for total capacity to remove aquarium organic matter, rate of adsorption, and duration of use.
250 mL will easily treat 400 L (100 gallons*) for several months. MatrixCarbon™ is very clean and nearly dust free. For best results, MatrixCarbon™ should be placed so as to maximize the flow of water through it. It may be used in a canister filter, chemical filtration module, box filter, or any high flow area of a trickle filter.

Top notch carbon Review by Tyler
The spheres work well, with little crushed media even after prolonged use in moderately high water flow. Works best in a bag, rather than in a reactor. (Posted on 1/8/2017)
excellent Review by Christina
works better and longer than cheap carbon from the pet store. I use this, along with seachem purigen to keep my tanks crystal clean. nothing but the best for my turtles (Posted on 8/18/2015)
Excellent Review by Andrew
I noticed when doing water changes the water would have a greenish tint to it. After running the carbon in the reactor it changed to a light blue tint matching the color of the replacement water I was putting back in the tank. (Posted on 8/11/2015)
Works Review by Jason
Used for a while with no issues. I use the carbon in a bag placed in the sump. Due to the size of the carbon, I double bag it as the carbon can easly move from the sump to the tank via the return pump. If a signficant amount of carbon gets into the tank, it could be a real problem. (Posted on 1/31/2015)
Seachem is the best Review by Kirk
The best I have used, last longer then other brands out there. I love it (Posted on 7/20/2014)
Love it! Review by Hnguyen
I love this carbon! The media is rounded so there is no compacting of the carbon which allows for water to move evenly around every single pellet thus utilizing every single pellet. They say you get what you pay for, and in this case. It was worth every penny. I got the big jar and I used half of it in my media reactor along with some bio-pellets and it works wonders. I can see the media being moved around in the reactor so I know for a fact that there is no compacting and that it works! (Posted on 12/9/2010)
Excellent Carbon Review by HRL
Seachem has great products. I put in a bag in my return side of my sump. The water rushes thru the bag with carbon. Water is crystal clear! (Posted on 11/28/2010)
