I was torn between purchasing this unit and the CVR bakpak. I had heard that the Octopus systems were the best that you could get for the price. Boy is this thing a beast. It pumps off about a half a cup of sludge every day or two. I am very pleased with it. The install and assembly directions suck. I called aquacave though and they were very helpful over the phone and I got it up and running within 30 minutes. Great product! It was a bit noisy at first but I have gotten used to it.

Great skimmer

Well i bought this skimmer about a year ago from AquaCave and it has been working very well on my sumpless 55gal SPS reef. I had planned on needing to mod it but after seeing how it ran i felt it was was good enough for my low bio-load of fish. Even with only a small blue tang and a pair of black & white clown fish it still pulls some dark gunk. The only problem i have is the pump being external makes it pretty loud and with it being at the bottom of my bed kinda sucks but with some foam padding and a rag rapped around the pump it cut the noise down. Still its a great skimmer and i can live with the noise knowing my fish and corals are extremely happy!
