An integrated removable bubble plate to help reduce turbulance within the skimmer which helps build a dense head of foam.
Extra-wide plumbing and necks in the design to allow for more air flow.
Wedge pipe output which allows you to adjust the skimmer and have greater control of adjustments compared to using ball valves.
Improved venturi design for the Sicce PSK-2500 pump makes for simple use for protein skimmer pumps.
Features a soft pin wheel impeller as well as a mesh wheel impeller to allow hobbyist the option of which one they prefer to use.
Up to 35scfh to 37scfh of air pull using soft pin wheel impeller and up to 40scfh to 50scfh using mesh wheel impellers.

Draws less than 30 watts of electricity per pump.
Quick release neck on the collection cup - requires 1/2 inch of clearance to remove the cup.

Great Skimmer

This is a great skimmer. I have had smaller much lest effective skimmers in the past, WOW what a difference. This skimmers pulls out a constant supply of dark tea colored water. One of the best parts is the ease of cleaning. The large neck allows easy cleaning access with a sponge on a stick. I loosen the materials with the sponge then I plug the air intake for a few seconds to cause the water to run into the collection cup and out the drain and into a bucket. I never need to remove the collection cup, I just empty the bucket and the skimmer is always clean. Very easy to use!

I looked online and did research on all kinds of protein skimmers since I upgraded from a 46 gallon reef tank to a 90 gallon tall tank. I took my time in deciding on which skimmer to go for since I'm going to have lots of rock and lots of coral. All I read about the Octopus Extreme were about how incredible they are. I made my choice and ordered one. Let me tell you guys, you were right about how incredible this product works. I know its just a bit pricey, but man with this item you definitely get what you pay for and then some. An A+ for the Octopus Extreme.

I had only read great things on this skimmer, so I bought one for my new 125 gallon reef(upgraded from a 45 gallon) and I bought one for my brothers 120 gallon reef which hes been running for years with no skimmer(it was starting to get dodgey looking, so he wanted a skimmer). My brother is VERY happy with his, and mine is breaking in quite nicely now that I have all my rock and corals transferred from my 45! Great skimmer for the price. It comes WITH a pump, but don't let the low price fool you. These pumps are HIGH END Italian pumps that are used on the MUCH more pricey skimmers! You get the full bang for you buck with this one! My dad is now bugging me to look into buying one for his 300 gallon reef!

The best skimmer ever

The Reef Octopus Extreme is the best skimmer for the least amount of money, I put the 160 in my 75 gallon tank system and it pulled out 16 ounces of black goup in 2 days (Updated on 2/16/2009.)
