As an entry level skimmer it is hard to beat this unit. Its plug and play design makes it easy to install and maintain. I set this up on one of my smaller reef tanks and have been very pleased with the dark, dry waste that it almost instantly started producing. The construction is solid and the pump is quiet. I was really impressed with the amount of bubbles produced. Over all its a great skimmer. I couldn't be more pleased (for that amount of money).

I used this skimmer for a replacement for a seaclone 100, and there is no comparison, this thing blows it away, started skimming the first night, VERY VERY PLEASED. WILL LOOK TO REEF OCTOPUS AGAIN!!!!!

This was my first ever skimmer. I bought it on a recommendation from a friend and was not sorry. The unit seems to be well constructed and is pretty much assembled in the box. The pump runs well within the acceptable noise limits of what you would want in your living room.
If there has to be a con, it is that the instructions were almost non existent. Their web site is of little help as well. I find that mine works well in about 10” of water. This allows you to use the discharge tube to adjust the water level in the skimmer. I run the water about in the middle of the inverted funnel that sits just under the collection cup and have not had a single issue with it.
