An easy, quick filtering water polishing pressure filter with a flow rate of 300 gallons per hour. Considered by most hobbyists as the best diatomaceous filter, System 1 can be used in Freshwater and Saltwater aquariums. System 1 fits most aquarium rims. With no hoses or valves to adjust, System 1 polishes the water by filtrating it through a DE Filter surrounded by Preemo-Clean, a super-fine diatomaceous earth medium, that works with the DE Filter to produce truly amazing results! A full listing of replacement parts is also available.

Before Using Filter:
Place about 1/2 cup of diatomaceous earth (3/4 cup for exceptionally dirty aquarium water) to the plastic jar before screwing the jar onto the filter unit. Do not allow the diatomaceous earth to stay on the edge of the jar opening as this can damage the rubber jar seal. It is recommended that you use only Aquarium Products System One diatomaceous earth.
Recharging Unit:
The System One filter is a maintenance filter and is designed to run approximately 3 hours at a time. If the unit is ran longer than this, the motor will burn up and will no longer be able to run. At this point, it will need to be replaced at the owners expense. After 3 hours of use, turn off the unit and wait for approximately 45 minutes to allow the unit’s motor to cool. After the cooling period the unit is ready for use again.
Clean Up After Use:
If the motor feels hot to the touch, wait 30 minutes for the motor to cool before disassembling the filter. If the motor is slightly warm or coo to the touch, turn the unit off and let it sit about 10 seconds to allow the dirty diatomaceous earth to settle in the bottom of jar instead of clinging to the filter element or cartridge. Remove the jar slowly with left hand under the bottom of the jar. Lower the jar about halfway down the filter element. With your right hand, loosen the element by turning with a slight downward pressure. Carry the jar and element to the area for cleaning. Wash out the jar and rinse the cartridge thoroughly with hot water. The cartridge may be scrubbed if necessary. The DE Cartridge can be reused. The duration of the cartridge is determined by the usage. The System One Diatomaceous Earth should be replaced after each use for best results.
Dimensions:
Filter: 8" wide x 8" deep x 9" high.
Plastic Jar: 4" diameter x 7.5" high.
