It work the way it looks.It diverts water to anywhere you want it to go and its made very well.I finally found a perfect out tube for my canister filter I highly recommend this product because most of the canister filters that you buy the output tube is not adjustable the way this product is

Provides goo water flow back into my tank. Id like to secure it to the wall of my tank but plumbing supply stores don't have a fitting that will do that.
