48" 6x54W Dimmable ATI SunPower T5 High-Output Light Fixture w/ Controller

Product Highlights:
1. Superior Lighting Control: With 10 individual set-points, the built-in controller produces much more realistic dawn-dusk and daylight simulations than non-dimmable fixtures.
2. Unbeatable Performance: Superior design and high-end components produce 50% more light than most other equally-sized T5 fixtures. An active cooling system allows bulbs to run at a more optimal temperature, improving both bulb output and bulb life.
3. Plug & Play: With the built-in controller there is nothing more to buy.
4. Clean, Contemporary Design: The slim, silver colored body is lightweight, durable, rust-proof and just 2.1” high. All components including the controller and T5 ballasts are built into the fixture housing with the only item external to the fixture being a single power-cord.
5. Energy Efficient: Produces up to 50% more light than most other equally sized T5 fixtures, without using more energy.
6. Quiet, Cool Operation: Runs cool and produces virtually no noise.

Why T5’s:
1. Tried and True Method: T5’s are a proven method for growing all types of coral including sps corals and clams.
2. More Vibrant Colors: Compared to other lighting options T5 bulbs come in a wide variety of unique color spectrums which offers greater flexibility and more options for enhancing each corals unique color. And with T5 bulbs costing about $20 each, it’s inexpensive to “play” with different color combinations.
3. Superior Light Balance: T5's are a linear source of light, not a point source of light so corals don't have a particular point to grow towards. This produces corals that are typically much fuller than corals grown under point sources of light like metal halides or LED’s.
4. Save Money: With a lower up-front cost than high-end metal halide and LED systems and the low cost of bulb replacements, a T5 system is typically cheaper to purchase and operate than a comparable metal halide set-up and typically on PAR with a comparable LED system.

  1. Phenomenal Light Fixture Review by Jess&Mike
    Product Rating:

When our older 48" 6-bulb T5 HO light fixture stopped working, we contemplated going with LEDs or a T5/LED hybrid model. With a 75-gallon tank with fish, inverts, and a combination of soft corals and zoas that were thriving with our old T5 HO system, the absolute urgency of getting a new fixture quickly, and taking the financial component into account, we reached out to Aqua Cave (amazing customer service on the phone at a late hour by the way) and decided to go with this dimmable model. Our older model had 2 power switches for the 2 channels and this only had one but with greater capabilities. We chose the free-shipping option and the light was shipped from CA to upstate NY within a few days - even came in a full day before expected. Very easy to set up as it used the same ceiling mount system our older light did and we were able to use our old T5 bulbs in it. We did reinforce our current ceiling mounts to ensure they would be able to handle the additional weight - this seems to be a few pounds heavier than our old fixture. Our fish and corals are back to thriving and our tank looks phenomenal!

Contrary to our expectation, the fixture did not come with a user guide booklet. However, the printed materials that came with the fixture were all that we required to set it up! When installing the bulbs (not included as your tank's needs and individual preferences will vary), do make sure that you install them with the labeled end of the bulb at the end of the fixture where the holes are to ensure longer bulb life. When sliding the plexiglass shield in, remove the protective sticker as you go - it is a tight fit but not hard to slide in carefully.

Setting the timer to control the percentage of light (there are 2 channels and each have up to 10 programmable spots) does take a little bit of time. Helpful tip - when programming each channel, use your left button to go back to the "01," "02," "03," etc spot before hitting up or down to get to the next channel. Not doing this will get you back to the main menu every time! Despite not having instructions on this, it was rather simple to figure out. Once it's all set and you've programmed in the current date and time, the light takes over the rest! No more physically changing the light from daytime to nighttime mode! The fish, especially, seem to love the gentle transition of light intensity (ours seem to appreciate routine - do yours as well?)

We are very happy with our purchase and the customer service we received when we were connected with an Aqua Cave employee in IL who was able to answer all of our questions and again when they called to confirm our shipping options the next morning! Thank you Aqua Cave! (Posted on 11/30/2019)
