I have been searching for a cheap, and somehow powerful pump for my 72 gal bowfront tank with a 20 gal refugium. I was using a Gen-X PCX 40 water pump and was looking for a new one because it was loud as &! * # (Pretty old also). Im a newbee in this hobby so my searches lead me to this pump. Being skeptical wether this pump will give me the necessary good flow, I decided to give it a try. I cant really notice the flow difference between one and the other. I must say that my pump is only around 4 feet below my main display and works great. As for loudness ... it is waaay quiet that the one I was using. Matter fact, I can hear the water flow now ... around 56db at 5 feet distance tested with SOUND METER app if this will help out. (I know it is not a precise measuring method). It Have Been running for 3 months now 24-7 and have no issues so far. Cord lenght: 42in. Will buy this same pump if needed. Worth every penny.

gets 4 stars due to cord length. I know I am very anal. the cord length was only 6 inches longer that the one that came on my blueline 10. I plan to replace it as I don't like using extension cords. I got my electrical strip 6 feet of the ground, mounted with 9 boxes going horizontally. 30 series pumps should have an 8 foot cord as there application is different. My Mag 2 has a very long cord because it is a great all around utility pump. 90 watts power consumption is great. DC pumps was out of my price range I was looking to spend. And performance charts told me to stick with iwaki, or blueline
