5 years later still running smooth...

Posted by Jesse on Jun 28th 2015

(same Jesse who wrote the 8/9/2010 review). My HD55 is still running smooth and quiet almost 5 years later at the same 10psi at the pump, or about 80% of it's 28ft head rating. Running 24/7 for the majority, just several weeks off in all that time.

Mt watt meter says it's drawing 1.15 amps, pleasantly below it's 1.6 amp rating, which may be normal, never tested it at low head but some electric motors do draw more power at lower resistance/high RPM's, and most motor amp ratings are maximum-draw I believe.

Also it's running in a very dusty sand floor basement, and being fan cooled(TEFC) there is of course an exposed shaft driving the cooling fan which is sucking any airborne dust right over it, so the seal would seem to be pretty good to endure sand dust which can be pretty rough/abrasive on moving parts. It's probably wise to clean the cooling fan once in a while with compressed air or a shop-vac.

Enthusiastically recommend these pumps.

    Blieline 55 HD

Posted by Louis on Aug 6th 2012

I've had one for 4 years in my soggy basement. It pumps up 13 ft via resticted pipes. It's the reason I looked for a skimmer that could make use of this great pump. My beckett works great with it too. I'm upgrading tanks and have read that 2 pumps in parallel are a good option. I'm buying a third BL55HD to work with my original 4 yr. old pump. A couple of check valves and some bigger pipe; I expect big results.

    Perfect

Posted by Jesse on Aug 9th 2010

Ive run this pump at 23ft head, or 10psi, 24/7 for 6 months now, and am very happy with it. It is so quiet that I have to squat down next to it to even hear it running. Looks to be very high quality construction. Uses slightly less than the rated watts. Ive never had an Iwaki but I cant see how it could be much better ?

    Great Product

Posted by J. Funk on Apr 10th 2009

Great pump, very powerful. I created a sump in my basement the Blueline 55 HD returns the water great, be sure to install a ball valve to control the flow if needed.
