- How long does this last? Does it need to be replaced every year or ever two years?

  We recommend replacing 50% of the media once a year.

- how much area will a 10lb bag of mud cover 1" thick?
- David,
  10 lbs. bag should give you approx. 12" x 12" of coverage at 1" depth.

Everything in the tank is happy when there is some miracle mud in the system. It's recommended by the best in the hobby and I see why. The whole concept makes sense to use it. I will always have some as long as it's available. (Posted on 9/20/2018)
