The Velcro close bags are made from two kinds of polyester mesh material. The finer material is in the interior, with a coarser material on the outside. Velcro easy-close media bag to provide excellent water flow through the media. Made from two kinds of polyester mesh material, the finer material is in the interior with a coarser material on the outside. No drawstrings to get caught in pump mechanisms. Can be used over and over, and is safe to bleach to clean.

- Will this also leach out nutrients like carbon? It probably doesn't matter if One does Their Weekly water changes.
  
  Is this meant to replace Activated Carbon?

I really like this filter media bag. It is thicker than the draw string type bags I have used before. The velcro seals the bag really well. If the velcro holds up I think this bag will last a very long time. I plan on ordering a few more. (Posted on 2/25/2015)
