Tunze Turbelle NanoStream 6095 Wide - High Flow Water Pump with Controller

For us design is much more than only styling of existing products: It is the expression of an idea and a concept; it opens one’s eyes. Turbelle® nanostream® combines aesthetics and function; it creates new ideas. This innovative flow pump sets up a new record: At a diameter of only 70 mm, unit 6045, for example, enables a water flow of 4,500 l/h (1,189 USgal./h) at an energy consumption of only 7 W. The pump contains a very large intake strainer for the water drawn in, which prevents premature soiling.
The spherical shape permits an ingenious 3D setting of the direction of flow. As a standard feature, Turbelle® nanostream® is supplied with a magnet holder, which enables uncomplicated attachment at any position on the aquarium pane.

Compact, powerful, and easy to use.

Compact but extremely powerful, wide flow and best directional control available for a power head.

Look no further for an ultra high quality circulating pump

When it comes to aquarium circulation there are many options. The least expensive option is the traditional powerhead, and most powerheads come with a package full of connecting options, but at the end of the day, they are not the most appealing presentation for your display tank. Moving up the ladder, you come to circulating pumps like Tunze, EcoTech Vortech, and several others. For my aquarium, I chose the Tunze 6095. It was a real toss-up between the Tunze and the Vortech, but the initial deciding factor was the very low profile outside of the aquarium. For the Tunze, the main power unit/motor is placed within the aquarium and only a small (relatively) magnet is visible outside the tank. With the Vortech, the impeller is placed inside the aquarium, but the motor is placed outside of your aquarium, and to me, it's a very sloppy-looking installation to have this large black motor hanging off the outside of your aquarium along with a power cord that can never be neatly routed below the aquarium. Some may say, however, that having the motor outside of the aquarium adds less heat, and while this is true, I found no measurable difference in the temperature of my 93g aquarium by running the Tunze (and I have 2). For those familiar with Tunze, you'll agree that Tunze products are usually the most expensive for any type of product you are looking for, but with this price comes unsurpassed quality and engineering. I was thoroughly impressed when I unpacked and assembled my first Tunze 6095. All the components were high-grade plastic or rubber, and everything was assembled very elegantly. Attaching the Tunze to the aquarium was a breeze, and as I mentioned above, outside of my aquarium is just a small black disc (the magnet); inside is the powerhead and power cord, but against a black background, all of this blends in very nicely. Power/circulation-wise, I have a 93g tank. I was quite surprised just how much water this pump actually moves. I originally thought I was making a mistake not choosing the largest Tunze model, but trust me, this pump really moves a lot of water. If I had to say anything negative about this product, I'd say that Tunze did not make it overly easy to regulate the speed of this pump. The pump comes with a package of resistors, and to change the speed, you must pull the resistor out of the power brick and install a different size. They are small, clear plastic parts labeled with different voltages. 24V, 22V, 20V, etc. Choosing the highest level causes the pump to spin the fastest; lower voltages obviously slow down the pump. It would have been a much better design to have a knob on the power supply one could turn to regulate the speed. Finally, if you want to get fancy with your water circulation, this pump can be connected to a controller, which will turn it on and off and regulate the speed (up to the limit you set with the resistor). I have 2 of these pumps connected to a Tunze 7096; water circulation in my tank is beautiful. Although I have not researched this, I'm told you can connect these pumps to an Apex controller if you decide to go that route instead of using a Tunze controller.

    Outstanding controllable powerhead!

Got 2 of these about 2 years ago to replace some old Korallias & I was quite surprised at the difference, despite reading all the rave reviews of the NanoStreams. I really love the design of the Tunze, the ball design is generally more compact than other brands comparable models, & you can rotate the powerhead in extreme ways that you'd never be able to with many other brands. Easily got the 6095's hooked up to my Apex controller (with proper adaptor cable), got them programmed in 10-15 minutes, & with the Apex these are turned on via a "soft start" which makes for a nearly silent start. The magnets on these are stronger than other brands I've used. Cleaning is such a breeze - you can simply leave the wet-side mounting base attached to the tank (in just the right spot you chose for it), & just slide off the ball unit, clean it with RO & a toothbrush, done in 5 minutes. Extremely glad I tried out the Tunze, worth every penny.
